Wavelengths 004: Building sustainable music communities
On February 21, 2023, Water & Music partnered with DC-based music company Phlote to host our fourth in-person Wavelengths: A roundtable discussion on the future of financially sustainable music communities.
We gave community leaders and organizers in the DMV area an opportunity to share their experiences and insights on how to create vibrant and sustainable music communities. Through an interactive conversation co-moderated by Cherie Hu (founder of Water & Music) and AJ Washington (founder of Phlote), we explored the role technology plays in the financial stability of the DIY scene, collectives, venues, and more.
Our paying research members can now access a recording of the conversation below.
Wavelengths is Water & Music’s traveling conversation series at the forefront of music and technology. Our local city events are free, yet we accept donations that go towards costs and support our research at large. Conversations are recorded, and made available to our community post-event.
