Wavelengths 001: The state of music curation and discovery in Web3
In late September, we hosted our first Wavelengths in Brooklyn, where industry leaders discussed Music Curation & Discovery in Web3.
We were treated to an open bar by our event sponsors at Zora, and what took place next was an important conversation around all things curation in Web3 — from the role of platforms vs. blockchain protocols, to what we can learn from previous curation paradigms as established by the likes of Spotify and Hype Machine. (There was even a challenge to not say the word “metadata.”)
Thanks so much to our moderator Cherie Hu, our speakers Anthony Volodkin ( Future Tape ), Athena Yasaman ( Catalog ), David Greenstein ( Sound ), and Mike Pollard ( Nina Protocol ), and our events lead Diana Gremore for making our inaugural Wavelengths an amazing success! Our paying research members can now access a recording of the conversation below. We’ve already got two more Wavelengths in the works for different cities this year, and are excited to continue building out our events vertical at large.
